OpenAI is working on a desktop superapp that bundles multiple AI tools into a single interface. The move signals a shift from web-first to native desktop applications.
According to The Verge, the app would combine ChatGPT, DALL-E, and potentially other OpenAI services under one roof.
Why Desktop?
Browsers are great for casual use. But power users want faster performance, better keyboard shortcuts, and offline capabilities. A native app delivers all three.
The superapp strategy makes sense. OpenAI already has the tools people want. Packaging them better could be the difference between casual users and daily power users.
